The Tacoma Garden Club, a member of the Garden Club of America, was founded on March 24, 1925. We explore four areas of interest:

Horticulture
Conservation
Photography
With great dedication and pride, we also support and maintain the Northwest Native Plant Garden, located within Point Defiance Park, as a resource for the community. We operate as a 501(c)(3). Membership is by invitation only.
The Northwest Native Plant Garden
In 1963, forward-looking members of the Tacoma Garden Club proposed to Metro Parks Tacoma (now Parks Tacoma) building a native plant garden within Point Defiance Park. They agreed, and a native plant garden took shape in a ravine at the southern edge of the park.
Today, paths wind through two acres of native forest, woodland, and meadow, and by a pond fed by a lively cascading waterfall. A wooden gazebo sited and partly designed by renowned landscape architect Thomas Church is a garden focal point. The public is always welcome!
Community Grants Program
Each year the Tacoma Garden Club selects one or more community organizations to receive small grants based on submitted applications.
Mission:
- To stimulate a love of gardening
- To protect the quality of the environment
- To encourage civic improvement
- To support charitable, scientific, and educational activities in each of the above categories
